Middle School One Act Play: The Layover

Our Middle School One Act Play students are preparing to perform The Layover, an original piece written by Valley View theatre arts student and cast member Camilla Colin.

Three people stand in a brightly lit indoor space.

The play follows Dana, a self-proclaimed “bad girl,” as she waits in a crowded airport surrounded by an eclectic mix of fellow passengers: intrusive strangers, a perplexing older couple, new parents, and a loud family with a difficult child.

Four diverse teens stand together in a gymnasium, looking towards the camera.

As Dana interacts with each of them during her seemingly endless layover, she begins to realize that reaching her destination requires something deeper than simply boarding a flight. She must first confront who she truly is.

Four people stand in a gymnasium, facing each other near a temporary wall.

We are proud of the creativity, hard work, and dedication our students have shown in bringing this story to the stage.
