Homeschool UIL Participation
In accordance with Texas House Bill 547 and recent updates from the 89th Texas Legislature, Valley View ISD will allow homeschooled students who reside within the district boundaries to participate in UIL-sanctioned activities during the 2025–2026 school year. Participation is contingent upon meeting all eligibility, academic, and participation requirements outlined below.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for UIL participation, homeschool students must:
- Reside within the Valley View ISD attendance boundaries.
- Not have been enrolled in a public school during the same academic year.
- Participate only in UIL activities at Valley View ISD. If Valley View ISD had opted out of participation, the student would have the opportunity to participate at the closest school district that has not adopted such a policy; however, Valley View ISD is accepting participants.

The following documents must be submitted to Valley View ISD before participation:
- Student’s birth certificate
- Social Security card
- Immunization record (or documentation of exemption; contact the school nurse for details)

- Submit periodic written verification confirming the student is receiving a passing grade in each course, aligned with Valley View ISD’s grading calendar.
Participation Expectations
Homeschool students approved for UIL participation must:
- Participate fully in all practices, meetings, workouts, and in-season and off-season school class periods related to the sport or activity.
- Follow all rules and expectations outlined in the Valley View ISD Student Code of Conduct.
