Transitional Bilingual (Late Exit) Program

Helping Emergent Bilingual students build academic success while developing English proficiency.

Valley View ISD's Transitional Bilingual (Late Exit) Program provides instruction in both English and the student's primary language to help students develop strong academic skills while becoming proficient in English. The program is designed to ensure students continue making grade-level academic progress while receiving the language support they need to succeed.

Academic Achievement

Students continue learning grade-level content while receiving language support.

English Language Development

Students develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English through daily instruction.

Primary Language Support

Students use their primary language as a foundation for learning while developing English proficiency.

Student Success

The goal is for students to become successful, confident learners who are fully prepared for academic success in English.

How the Program Works

Students receive instruction in both English and their primary language during the elementary years. As students become more proficient in English, instruction gradually shifts toward English while continuing to support academic achievement.

This instructional model allows students to:

  • Build literacy in their primary language
  • Develop strong English language skills
  • Master grade-level academic content
  • Successfully transition to English instruction when appropriate

Family Partnership

Families play an important role in student success. Valley View ISD values strong school-home partnerships and is committed to keeping families informed, involved, and supported throughout their child's educational journey.

We are committed to:

  • Communicating with families in their preferred language
  • Providing ongoing support throughout a student's educational journey
  • Working together to help every student reach their highest potential
