Threats Are No Joke

Threats Are No Joke

At Valley View ISD, student safety is our top priority. Any threat—whether spoken, written, or shared online—is taken seriously and addressed immediately.

What may seem like a joke can quickly create fear, disrupt learning, and lead to a full emergency response. There is no such thing as “just a joke” when it comes to threats involving school safety or harm to others.

Making or sharing threats can result in serious consequences, including:

  • School disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion
  • Possible involvement of law enforcement
  • Legal consequences that may impact a student’s future

We encourage families to talk with their students about the importance of responsible communication and the impact their words and actions can have on others.

See Something, Say Something

Students and families are encouraged to report any concerning behavior or threats immediately.

Speaking up helps keep our schools safe. Reporting a concern is not about getting someone in trouble—it’s about protecting everyone.

Don’t ignore it. Don’t share it. Report it.
