Stop the Bleed
Stop the Bleed & Traumatic Injury Response Protocol
Valley View ISD prioritizes the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. In accordance with Texas law, including House Bill 496 (Sec. 38.030), the district has implemented a Traumatic Injury Response Protocol to prepare for emergencies involving significant blood loss.
Bleeding control kits are clearly marked and strategically placed throughout all district campuses and facilities. These kits include essential life-saving supplies such as tourniquets, compression bandages, gloves, and other emergency materials, along with instructions for use.
Valley View ISD provides annual training for staff and offers students in grades 7–12 the opportunity to participate in optional Stop the Bleed training.
Optional Stop the Bleed Training (Grades 7–12)
Students who choose to participate will complete two components:
Online Course
Students must complete the required online training course prior to participating in hands-on instruction.
In-Person Hands-On Training
After completing the online portion, students must:
- Submit the Valley View ISD Parent Permission Form
- Provide a copy of their course completion certificate
- Turn all documentation into their Nurse Thacker
Once documentation is verified, students will be scheduled for hands-on training.
Nurse Thacker conducts hands-on training sessions, providing practical instruction to help students learn to respond effectively in emergency situations.
