Enrollment Overview & Eligibility

Who Can Enroll

VISTA Learning Academy serves students in grades 9–12 who are seeking a flexible, personalized learning experience. Enrollment is open to both in-district and approved out-of-district students; however, admission is based on a selection process and is not guaranteed.

Enrollment for In-District Families

  • Students currently enrolled in Valley View ISD should contact their campus counselor or administrator to begin the VISTA Learning Academy application process.

  • Apply by May 22, 2026, for entry at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
    Apply by November 20, 2026, for second-semester entry.

Enrollment for Out-of-District Families

    • Complete the online VISTA application
    • Submit all required documents
    • Submit a transfer request (out-of-district students only)
    • If selected, complete the student registration through Ascender
    • Application for Transfer
    • Submit proof of current residency (no P.O. Box; lease, mortgage, or utility bill)
    • Provide a birth certificate
    • Submit immunization records
    • Provide a parent/guardian ID
    • Submit previous school records
    • Provide STAAR testing results (Find STAAR results here)
  • Complete Enrollment in Ascender (If Accepted)

    After acceptance into VISTA Learning Academy, families must complete enrollment through Ascender.

    Step 1: Gather Required Documents

    Before beginning, have the following ready to upload:

    • Proof of residency
    • Birth certificate
    • Immunization records
    • Parent/guardian ID
    • Previous school records (if applicable)

    Step 2: Create or Log In to Ascender ParentPortal

    • Go to Ascender ParentPortal
    • Create an account or log in
    • Set up your username and password
    • Enter contact information and security questions

    Step 3: Complete Enrollment Application

    • Select Enroll a New Student
    • Enter student and family information
    • Upload required documents
    • Complete all enrollment forms

    Step 4: Submit Enrollment

    • Review all information
    • Click Submit to complete enrollment
    • Enrollment is not complete until submitted

    Important: All students, including returning Valley View ISD students, must complete enrollment or annual verification each year.
