Valley View Student Ranks 4th in State at ATSSB All-State Auditions

Valley View High School student Lance Hieb has earned statewide recognition after placing 4th in 3A French Horn at the 2026 Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) All-State auditions.
More than 10,000 high school band students from across Texas began the region-level audition process. The top musicians advanced through area competitions, and only 286 students statewide were ultimately selected for All-State honors.
By finishing 4th among all 3A French horn players in Texas, Lance is recognized as the 4th best 3A French hornist in the entire state — an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects exceptional dedication, preparation, and musical excellence.
Lance performs under the direction of Wayne Winner and Max Moeck as a member of the Valley View High School Band. He joined other top student musicians in San Antonio last week for rehearsals and the All-State concert.
Valley View ISD is incredibly proud of Lance’s hard work and achievement. His success represents the strength of our music program and the commitment of our students and directors.
